...try choosing one of the first face's corners that might will end up in the U layer (assuming you do your cross on the bottom).

Hey, thanks! Your advice helped made my F2L smoother and slightly faster. It made me realised that some of my pauses were due to not having a corner ready for pairing (for the first and all subsequent pairings).

Now I try to make sure that a corner is almost always ready on top (as part of the look-ahead!)

First of all, cross does not have to be that hard. It should only take 2-3 seconds with 6-8 moves just as Jt said. During the 15 second inspection, try choosing one of the first face's corners that might will end up in the U layer (assuming you do your cross on the bottom). This technique, corner tracking, is a good way to link the Cross step to the F2L step since it is easier to look for edges once you have found the corner that it goes with.

Next, F2L should be practiced slow and steady until you can get sub 10 in Cross+F2L. Slow and steady, meaning that you shouldn't rush the solve and you make sure that you don't make any pauses. Of course, going slow and steady can only get you so far, therefore you should start turning as fast as you can while keeping the lookahead that you practiced thus getting your F2L to sub 8 Smiley.

I hope this helps.

OT: I haven't been in this forums in a while! Good to be back.  Grin

So what you mean is that we inspect ALL the cross pieces AND one corner right? Is it okay to find 3 cross pieces AND 1 corner pieces?

Hmm.. I should try this technique you speak of.. Perhaps I can make some f2l improvements there

Woa. Never tought Jt need improvement..... Shocked

most of the time there will be a corner available after cross .

i feel the most difficult part in f2l is to determine fast on how to insert from the angle you are in .

this is what i feel , correct me if im wrong .   Smiley

Err yeah. One of the people in speedcubing forum said that a good F2L insertion will make use of the empty slots. Sometimes, it seems that I know what it means but (most of the time) if it can't work, I just use logic (like badmephisto's vid). Maybe that's what make my ave from sub-50 to sub-40 nowadays....
