tips on memorizing OLL...

hey guys...

i have completed my PLL but still doing 2-look OLL.. 57 cases to remember... its hard work man... how u guys manage to memorize all?? can drop me a pointer or some tips...

Practical pointer: Start with those cases that occur frequently...

for me , i cant rem algo properly . i have this problem where i cant diff R and R' . to me both are R's . lols . tt y i always kanna the =.= from benson n jt . LOL i cant rem the perm or OLL name too ! HAhHAa ...

so what i do is , i keep repeating the fingertrick till im used to it to rem it .

well mayb not a good way to learn , lols . but im just sharing on how i learn .

What me? I don't use notations to teach algos, I use something like "up push down push up push twice down)

Intuitive ftw.

As headache said, start with those which occur frequently, such as those with the cross already done. Or by easiest to hardest.

i memorize algs by the sound they make, or the triggers (if they exist) i can single out of the algs.

Just wanna share my method. I also memorize PLL algo by its sound (actually more to rhythm). While executing them, I sing it's sound ("tap tap tara tap tap") in my head. This help me to make the execution faster.

But for OLL, somehow I can't hear the rhythm  

I gave each OLL case that I'm working on a nickname by the way I'll execute them or the trigger. Eg:
Fat 6 move
R U2 -- 01 18
MU
S
y F Double
RB'
r' U2'
d l
y' Flow   //this is for (R' U' R' F) R F' (U R)

Sometimes it doesnt matter to give any nickname as long as it's unique and can trigger ur memory (eg: Disney. This is a nickname given when i learn a case while watching disney program). You may say "there's nothing to do with Disney and memorizing algo" but as for me, somehow it works; additional stuff to memorize but make them much easier?

p/s: Currently manage to memorize 14 algo (excluding 2 Look OLL algo). 14 algo already took me 2 weeks of practise. hu hu... I think I can get this done in another month.

Good luck! triggers are a very good way to learn new algorithms. I've taught many people that way, and a good number have managed to achieve sub 20 average.
